Old Homes vs. New Homes in Huntington: It's all a Matter of Money

Huntington, NY was founded in 1653. Some of the oldest homes on Long Island can be found there. Old homes need maintainance.  Close on one and keep your check book out!  You may to update the kitchen, a couple of bathrooms, a roof , the heating and the air conditioning.  This can all add up to hundreds of thousands of dollars.

That's the lure of a newly built home: No major investments!  But that comes with a cost. The average price for a newly built home in Huntington today is over $675,000!

Here is an excelent, below average value:

35 Amsterdam Street Huntington - $475,000 - Open House, Saturday 9/12 from 1 to 3pm.

From the broker's listing:
2 Month Build Time. Drive By Outside Completed Taxes Estimated Around $13,000.
  • Open Floor Plan Boasts An Eat-In Kitchen With
  • Custom Cabinetry, Stainless Appliances
  •  Granite. Marble Top Bath Vanities
  • Central Air. Moldings. Full Basement & Attic.
  • Elwood Schools

With new homes however, the designer's taste has to match yours. There's plenty of flexibility to add options but generally speaking, you'll need to break out your checkbook again.
